Hand-Drawn & Hand-Colored Wedding Jotters

I drew the frame design and purchased the rights to use this very cool font and came up with this conversation starter wedding book set.

The outlined design can be hand colored any color desired .. use one color or several.

So many possibilities!  Available at

Booklets are available printed on 100 lb. coverstock in white or cream.  I have a great 80 lb. cover from French Paper in Kraft.  Check out my Etsy shop for more information!

New "Chalkboard" Wedding Guest Books

These would be perfect for a rustic wedding!  I hand paint layers of chalkboard paint onto 100 lb. kraft cover stock.  Table numbers are then stenciled onto the chalkboard.  Wedding advice questions are printed onto the first page of the booklets.  There's 10 sheets of paper (20 fronts & 20 backs) making a total of 40 pages for your guests to share words of wisdom on your wedding day.

These can be found in my Etsy shop at

Numbered books can serve as table numbers.

The inside page has a 'conversation starter' question of your choice.

Boxed sets come in a rustic paper mache box with a personalized label on top.

The box can be decorated with ribbons and flowers.

I've been very busy but will have more sets on the blog soon!!

Malibu Blue - A David's Bridal Wedding Color

A bride-to-be recently ordered this set of guest books for her wedding.  Instead of the conversation starter questions I usually print, she preferred anniversary numbers instead. Guests will leave short messages to the couple that will be read on the anniversary year printed.  Great idea!

The blue ink, paper and ribbon I selected is a great match to the David's Bridal malibu blue that she is using.  The box is the same paper mache box I sell with the rustic sets and it has been painted a glossy white.  I like the way it turned out.

This particular set isn't shown in my store but can be duplicated by request.  I love custom orders and custom colors and would love to hear from you!

More Colors Available!

Any of the sets in my Etsy shop can be customized to fit your wedding decor.   While kraft stock is the most popular booklet cover that I sell, I also offer white and ivory plus several other colors.  These are a few variations from recent orders:

Heart Border Samples

I'm loving this sample that I worked up yesterday afternoon.  This cover is for one of my larger wedding sets and measures 4.25" wide X 6.75" tall.

The larger books can be stored flat in this decorated paper mache box.  The box measures 4.625" deep front to back X 7.125" wide X 3" tall.  It will be color coordinated using navy ribbon and navy fabric for the flower.

A twisted fabric flower could be substituted for the frayed layered flower.

To give my customer another choice, (and I'm all about choices), I made a cover using red hearts too.

On My Work Table...

This hand painted booklet is a part of a set going to Rita in Florida.  The leaves are painted mint green and the flower and berries are ivory.  I'm loving this color combination on the kraft stock.  More details are available in my Etsy shop.

Sweet Photo!

Positive feedback is such a compliment and when a photo arrives with the feedback, it adds a special little something.  This morning I opened a message from newlyweds Katherine and Brant who bought a set of jotters back in September.  This is the lovely photo I received this morning:

Thank you Katerine and Brant and thank you Jennifer Lust for the beautiful shot.

Thank You

I feel the need to send out an update to let you know what's happening at jotters and journals.

My daddy had a stroke on February 13 and spent 3 weeks at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  He was not physically strong enough for the physical therapy at Stallworth near Vanderbilt, so I brought him to a wonderful facility only 10 minutes from my home.  He passed from this life on Wednesday, April 24 and I am brokenhearted.

I've messaged some of you through Etsy to let you know that shipping dates might be later than planned.  I am back to working and I'm trying to get caught up with orders.  I'm paying very close attention to your wedding dates or 'needed by' dates and you will have your wedding jotters in plenty of time.

Thank you all so much for your patience and your kind words.  You'll find a little something extra tucked into your order.  This little pocket-sized jotter leaves today for Lead Hill, AR ...I hope you like it Tammie.

One last word:  Keep your hearts healthy friends.

I didn't know much about irregular heartbeat or afib before my dad's stroke - it's worth reading up on here:

Thanks again for your understanding.  I'll be reopening and going full blast again very, very soon.  Do not hesitate to contact me at  ♥♥♥

Conversation Starters: Color-Block Fronts

I'm working on samples for new listings that will be for sale in my Etsy shop soon.  Color-block fronts will add more options and color to the rustic selection I already offer.  A pretty array of colors including the burgundy one shown can be paired with your choice of decorated boxes seen throughout my other shop listings.  Besides burgundy, a few of the colors I'll offer include pine green, purple and ocean blue.  Special color requests are always welcome!

Coming Soon: Shades of Blue

I wonder how many shades of blue there is out there.  I'm working with a bride-to-be to come up with the perfect shade of tiffany blue for her wedding conversation starters.  The color point-of-reference I've been using is the cover to the Summer at Tiffany book cover pictured above.  I spent some time in Nashville yesterday and found the perfect blue ribbon that will work with the brighter blue jotters.  The softer blue is more of a pool or ocean blue color and would be pretty at a beach wedding.  I've got some shell/beach themed rubberstamps that would add a nice touch.  I'll have some finished sets in my Etsy shop soon!

Pretty in Plaid Wedding Set

The bride and groom used plaid in their wedding and it was a challenge to find the perfect plaid for this conversation starter set.  I made ribbon using flaid fabric and layered that over a shiny copper brown satin.

To complete the set, books were printed in cocoa, apple and fern green and were bound using chocolate brown waxed linen.
